The Client
Farmers Home Furniture® (“Farmers”) is one of the top 100 furniture companies in the country and one of the largest privately owned companies based in Georgia. They are committed to providing their customers with the best possible service and selection by tailoring each store to its town and matching product selection to the customers.
The Challenge
Farmers was expecting to grow their business substantially over the next few years and they wanted to upgrade to the latest version of GERS software, Enterprise One. Since their aging 16-Way DG Aviion with an EMC CLARiiON Storage Array could not meet the performance demand of the software, Farmers needed a new platform that could handle their current and future needs.
The Solution
Logicalis designed a highly available platform solution utilizing a Building Block approach that allows Farmers to satisfy their application and performance requirements while providing a future path for implementing a high-availability, disaster recovery solution when required.
Logicalis implemented IBM p670 Server 16-Way (12 Active) 1.45 GHZ CPU's, FastT500 Storage Array with 4.3TB of mirrored Storage, FlashCopy and an IBM Tape Library for performing unattended backups. Logicalis had the system shipped directly to Farmers where Logicalis' professional services performed IBM AIX UNIX and File System setup, setup and installed FastT Storage Array, loaded FlashCopy, and prepared the server for use by GERS so they could load and configure their Enterprise One application.
The Bottom Line
With IBM's help, Logicalis delivered a solution that allows Farmers to utilize the features of Enterprise One while providing a much needed gain in performance. Farmers' hardware can now grow with their business, and they have an IBM solution that provides them with a better total cost of ownership.
